The weather over the past week has really given us that feeling that spring has well and truly arrived. It’s that time of year to bust open those windows and tackle that spring clean. We know that the thought of pulling out all the pruck in the cupboards can feel like a never-ending task.

To help you tackle that yearly clear out we have put a list of hacks together, meaning you can take it in bite sizes to make it that bit more digestible. Whether it’s just a quick 5 minute spruce up or a full weekend to tackle those chores.

Dust Down Your Doormat

Hose off and air-dry your outdoor doormat and vacuum your inside mat, going over the back of it will push all the trapped dirt onto the floor where it is easier to vacuum or brush up. Finish it off with a little spruce of Febreze and they’ll be good as new.

Give your Walls a Wipe

Keeping your walls free of dust, fingerprints or stains is as simple as giving them a quick wipe down with a damp microfiber cloth. Make sure you start towards the ceiling and work your way down. Extra brownie points if you tackle those door frames and skirting boards too!

Give your Chopping Boards a new Lease of Life

If you think that beetroot stain on your wooden or plastic chopping board is now there for good, think again. Lemon is an amazing way to get your chopping boards looking like you just unwrapped them. All you need to do is run the cut side of a lemon over the board to help remove food stains and smells. For those extra tough ones sprinkle it with salt or baking soda first.

Reorganise that ‘Junk’ Drawer

We’ve all got one… that one drawer random stuff is always chucked into and forgotten about until it’s hard to get it shut. Pull everything out of the drawer, suck our any dust or crumbs with a vacuum. Toss away anything you no longer need or don’t belong there. Put everything back but in an organised manner. Repurpose pretty bowls to store cards or any other bits… if you’re feeling pro get yourself some drawer organisers from Amazon… they’ll change your life.

Spruce up Your Shower Head

A build-up of hard water can cause unattractive stains and even effect the amount of waterflow coming from your showerhead. If giving them a good scrub with a sponge doesn’t remove them, you can give it a complete glow up with stuff you’ll more than likely have at home. Grab yourself a plastic bag and mix equal parts white vinegar and water and tie the bag around the shower head (make sure it is completely submerged). Leave it for about an hour, wipe away any residue and run the hot water to get the vinegar out of your shower.

Steam Clean the Microwave

Get rid of those pesky tomato soup stains once and for all. To give your microwave a deep clean all you need to do is, fill a microwavable safe bowl with water 100ml of water, a chopped-up lemon or lime or several tablespoons of vinegar and put it in there for around 3 minutes or until the solution boils and the window steams up - let it cool for around 5 minutes before opening the door. Remove the bowl and wipe clean.

These are 6 easy ways to give your home a little spring spruce up… happy cleaning!
